By moving through the transformative changes occurring, individually and collectively, new beginnings are taking shape. As we all continue to move forward, Embodydance Santa Fe is experiencing a tremendous transformation, having reached our 10th year anniversary this past month! In numerological terms, nine is symbolic of completion, and 10 is actually looked at as a one—an initial step up the next spiral on the helix of evolution. During this past year, as Creative Director I have focused on mid-wifing our organization into autonomy, with a structure that is in complete alignment with the intention of our vision as “community-owned and operated.” We truly are pioneers in a new wave of creation, and I am proud to say we are becoming a group that is empowered from the inside-out…just like our dance. Our Executive Committee is now up and running and will soon appoint a General Manager to help out with the work at hand. Until then, I’d appreciate your taking a few moments to review the following items for discussion and action over the next few weeks. <ul> <li>Since this is such a special landmark year, we will be celebrating the event with a big anniversary party May 15th. Our annual parties are always sensational, but this year we want go somewhat beyond stellar! But Embodydance needs you, the community, to help make it the success it should be to honor our journey together. As such, I'm putting a call out for volunteers!!!!!</li> <li>We need a key anniversary event organizer and a couple folks for creating/decorating a special space for the event…including an elaborate main altar.</li> <li>Alec is organizing the all non-facilitator team of DJ's; if you are interested in joining the DJ team please contact him directly.</li> <li>One of our newer dancers (Rick) will be catering the food. But we need volunteers and could use someone to help set up the tables and pick up the pre-ordered cake at Whole Foods.</li> <li>We are looking for a seasoned Embodydancer to help produce proceedings of a special acknowledgement ceremony—with the young Scott acting as MC for the entire event. This is going to be a lot of fun.</li> <li>These are just a few of the roles we need to fulfill. Please contact me if you would like to be a part of this extraordinary event, in any capacity—please let me know ASAP.</li> <li>We invite your donations of goods or services for our big raffle to be held during the party. This is a great way to weave community as people delightfully discover what it is you do through your services or via the gifts your provide. Remember these are tax-deductible and receipts are available upon request.</li> <li>I am writing the history of Embodydance. With this in mind, we are looking for submissions of stories/recollections (any length) about our community or dance that you'd like to put in our Embodydance anniversary book. These can be humorous, inspiring, corny or poignant—our team wants to read what you have. We are also looking for any photographs you may have taken over the past 10 years. The more the better! Be aware that this keepsake will be made available on a limited-edition basis. At this point we are planning on printing only 100 copies of the book.</li> <li>There is a proposal being considered for filming an Embodydance Legacy Video to document our unique community. We invite you to partcipate in this by being interviewed and/or showcasing our collective magic during taping which is tentatively scheduled for a special Sunday dance in April. Details to follow.</li> </ul> I highly encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to attend the upcoming workshops of two stellar 5Rhythms® teachers, Sara Pagano in early April and Adam Barley in late May. They are internationally acclaimed and offer an incredible chance to deepen your understanding and experience of the dance practice Embodydance is based on. Board of Directors Discussion of duties and commitment. Anangua, Guthrie, Thomas and Lloyd offered to serve. Although not present, Lyric also offered to serve, and Poki retracted his offer. Ruth offered to continue on the BOD. Consensus reached on a new BOD consisting of Ruth, Anangua, Guthrie, Thomas, Lloyd and Lyric. Contact info was collected by Ruth, who will schedule a BOD meeting asap.** **NOTE: Ruth has decided not to continue on BOD after all. She will get contact info to Ishwari, who will schedule a BOD meeting and meet with group the first time to get them up and running, as she has been on BOD in past.   <hr /> <h2>Minutes, Embodydance Community Meeting, February 21, 2010</h2> In attendance: Elaine, Sol, Lloyd, Ruth, Thomas, Guthrie, Ishwari (facilitator and minutes-taker), John C., Anangua (Vibes monitor), Tracy (Assistant Vibes Monitor, Actioneer, Timekeeper) Consensus and other statements already read. Agenda was discussed and determined. Ruth read financial statement. Viability of Tuesday night dance: Discussion of fact that Tuesday has been steadily operating at a loss. Ideas mentioned included establishing a sliding scale; a suggestion that people who “dance for free” pay on Tuesdays instead, to help increase the “take”; Allowing Thursday night to subsidize Tuesday night; finding a larger and/or less expensive venue. Consensus reached to make announcements at dance that Tuesday’s viability is in question, encouraging people to support it, and to revisit the topic in two months (April). Space issues (Railyard): Concern expressed about the recent series of mishaps (broken glass; candle wax spill; broken statue; hole in wall), and our standing with owners of Railyard. We are a high-impact user and have an agreement for a very low rent. Discussion of need for Embodydance to stay in good standing and repair recent problems. Discussion of need to increase communication between Facilitators and Coordinators so any problems that do occur get reported immediately. Consensus reached for Embodydance to accept the offer of the individual who broke the wall to pay for the repair. Consensus reached that Tracy will talk with Elise, asking her what they need us to do to affirm our respect and commitment to being responsible tenants. Possibilities discussed included offering to repair the hole (at least one skilled person has volunteered), paying a higher rent, paying a damage deposit. Facilitator Pay Increase: Discussion of the need for increase, including how to implement it (across the board vs. merit/ seniority, etc.). Consensus reached for Tracy to bring this to Facilitators meeting, reporting general support for an increase, and invite Facilitators to bring proposal to Executive Committee, which should be seated soon. Tenth-Year Anniversary Party: Tracy presented her draft proposal, including creating committees for music, food, special acknowledgments, Ritual/Ceremony, Embodydance Legacy Video, Promotions. Excited discussion and brainstorming. Consensus reached for Tracy to go ahead and start with a call for volunteers and scheduling a date at Railyard for sometime in May. She will bring her proposal with a budget request to the first Executive Committee for approval. Legacy Video: Anthony Carlson, filmmaker, presented proposal for creating an Embodydance video, to be shown at Tenth-Year party and to be used for development, promotion and general dance community enjoyment afterwards. Discussion and questions. Basic approval of the idea, with consensus reached for Anthony to present detailed contract proposal to Executive Committee at their first meeting. Anthony agreed to make a sample video available to those who want to view it beforehand. There are still seats available if you would like to step in to serve your community in this way. The responsibility of being a Board member entails  your attendance to  bi-annual meetings. Although the time required is minimal, your vital role cannot be underestimated.   Please do not confuse the Board with our current election of the Executive Committee! Also, be aware that the deadline for casting your ballot  for the EC is set for March 1! You will find the minutes from our last meeting enclosed below.   Do come join us this weekend for our annual/ community meeting to be held.... Sunday Feb 21 At:  Guthrie Miller's House 509 Camino Lejo (1st driveway on the left coming towards the museuams from Old Pecos Trail) Potluck 5:30pm Meeting begins: 6:30pm. With great admiration for all of your enthusiasm and grace. In the Dance, Tracy Collins   <hr /> EmbodyDance Community Meeting Minutes 17-Jan-2010  Meeting held at Guthrie’s house   In attendance: Neil; Ruth; Tracy; Ishwari; Guthrie   Meeting began at 6:30 p, Ishwari facilitated Minutes taken by Guthrie   Agenda Financial report Executive committee and board of directors 10th anniversary party Elise’s Buddha that got broken Production of video   Financial report. The total operating expense for 2009 was about $60,000. Income exceeded expenses by about $1500 for 2009. There was an anonymous donation of $3000 in 2009. There is $15400 in the bank, $3000 of which is in a savings account that earns interest. There was consensus on adding $4000 to savings.   Executive Committee and Board of Directors. In the opinion of Ruth, this meeting could not serve as the non-profit annual meeting, because she was the only board member present. Ishwari felt we did not have the information needed to let this meeting serve as the non-profit annual meeting. Guthrie expressed willingness to serve as the board member on the EC. After much discussion it was decided to go ahead with the election for the Executive Committee as soon as John is able, even though none of the candidates are board members, and it is necessary that one EC member be a board member. It was decided that we would vote for 5 rather than 6 candidates, and after the annual board meeting it would be decided how to fill the board member position. After the meeting, Tracy provided this information. The present makeup of the board is as follows (board members serve two year terms): Ruth Solomon—Vice Pres and registered agent Laurie Letter—Treasurer Sea Criss—President Franchesca Shrady—Secretary The annual meeting will be combined with next month’s community meeting on Sunday February 21, at Guthrie’s house. Tracy will contact all board to members to encourage their attendance on Feb. 21. Also, to ask if they want to continue to serve on the board.   10th anniversary party. Tracy had several ideas for the ED birthday party, which will also be a 10th anniversary party. There was enthusiasm  for Tracy to continue with this and contact people to serve on committees. More definite ideas and a proposed budget will be presented by Tracy at the next community meeting.   Elise’s Buddha that was broken. There was consensus to pay Elise $100 for the Buddha.   Production of video. Tracy discussed the possible production of an ED video, that could be put on the web site. It was agreed that a proposal would be considered at the next community meeting, when more information would be available.
